Hunger for justice and community transformation

Scripture
Isaiah 58:6 (NIV) – “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?”

Think
As a people of God who long to be transformed by Jesus, I wonder if we care for the things the God cares about? A hunger for God leads to a hunger for justice, mercy, and righteousness in the world around us. How might God be calling you to demonstrate his love to the world? Are there burdens we can help lift? People we can serve? Today we invite you to The Furnace (you may have come along this morning!). What better way to start your day than with the Lord? Praying in the morning reminds us that God’s faithfulness is as ‘sure as the sunrise’. If you haven’t already, you may like to try these devotions first thing. As we pray for the world today, let’s do so with the sure and certain hope of the faithfulness of God.

Pray
God of justice, help me to look beyond myself. I am sorry for not longing and hungering for justice as I know I should. Empower me to go where you go. Break my heart for that which breaks yours. Help me to step out in faith and use me to demonstrate your love to the world. May those in need of your presence and your peace, know your loving hand today. Amen.
