Looking back over May, it's not hard to see what God has been doing. He's been drawing people to Himself through Baptism, answering prayers we'd almost forgotten we'd prayed, meeting people in their questions and their pain. One person we'd been praying for gave their life to Jesus. People came forward for healing. None of this was really about us—it was God doing what only He can do, and reminding us to keep our eyes open for more.

Ministry Spotlight

Baptisms in May

At our 9.15am service on Sunday 17th May we had four baptisms! Three young people and one adult were baptised to show and share their desire to follow Jesus and grow closer to Him. Each candidate shared a really powerful testimony of their understanding and experience of Jesus’ love. They also spoke about their knowledge of needing Jesus to lead and help them in all areas of their lives. It was wonderful to welcome lots of visitors to witness the baptisms and to hear the gospel powerfully shared by David Shervington. Let’s pray in faith for more people through our different ministries/groups to encounter Jesus, give their lives to Him and come to be baptised so that we may celebrate with them and encourage them in their walk as a disciple.

Homegroups

We are so blessed at St Peter’s to currently have so many homegroups meeting throughout the week to support one another, study God’s Word together and pray. Groups meet throughout the week, some daytime but most in the evening. We want our Homegroups to be a place of community and going deeper in relationship with Jesus. In January at our leaders meeting I encouraged that groups would pray regularly for people to come to know Jesus and to be aware of opportunities to meet with people outside of the church to share life and hope with them. I am also keen to hear testimonies and stories from homegroups about how they are seeking Jesus move amongst them as a group and individuals. Homegroups are a great way to get to know different members of St Peter’s and establish friendships as well as understand more of what is going on in the life of Jesus’ church in Farnborough. Alpha Course        

This coming Wednesday (3rd June) we will be on week 4 of our latest Alpha course! We are having a fantastic course so far with 13 guests – our second already this year. The group is really open and excited to hear about who Jesus is and the difference that He can and does make to people’s lives. It is a joy to see how comfortable people are to ask the questions that are on their hearts and also to encourage each other. I am really blessed to have a wonderful team who are serving in different ways who are passionate about the guests encountering the love, truth and goodness of Jesus. Please pray for us this coming Wednesday as we look at the video focused around ‘How Can I Have Faith?’ Looking forward to the next Alpha course already!

Thy Kingdom Come

Ending on Pentecost Sunday as a church family we united in prayed, taking part with many people across the world in the Thy Kingdom Come prayer movement. This has been such a blessed time as we gathered to pray together for each other, our local community, our church, our world and to worship the Lord in different ways. 

Each day, we committed to praying for five people we know who do not yet know Jesus. This simple but powerful act has been at the heart of our time together—asking God to reveal His love and truth to those around us. We want to encourage everyone to continue this practice beyond these ten days. These don’t need to be long or complicated prayers but just crying out to our Father for those we know and love to be saved by Jesus and receive His love, life, forgiveness and hope.

We were especially encouraged by a wonderful testimony shared during the week: one member of our congregation shared that one of the five people they had been praying for gave their life to Jesus. What an incredible reminder that God is at work! This is exactly what we have been praying for, and it fuels our faith to keep going. Let’s pray and ask God for more of these testimonies in the coming days, weeks and months.

We met daily for morning prayer which was a wonderful way to start our days together.

Alongside our daily prayers, we experienced several special moments together as a church. Our Breathe worship night created space to encounter God deeply through worship and listening to His voice. Our Ascension Day service reminded us of Jesus’ victory and how He is seated on high reigning and ruling in power.

We were also blessed by a visit from the Bishop Nasan from Uganda, who brought teaching and encouragement about the power of prayer. His words reminded us that prayer is not just a routine, but a vital and transformative connection with God - one that has the power to change lives, communities, and nations.

As we move forward, let’s not see these ten days as an end, but as a beginning. Let’s continue to pray boldly, faithfully, and expectantly. Keep praying for your five. Keep gathering with others to pray- maybe you could form a small group of people to pray together for your five or other issues that are on your heart.

Bishops’ visits

At St Peter’s Farnborough, we were inspired and challenged by visits from Bishop Abraham and Bishop Nasan, who shared powerful stories of Church growth, prayer and evangelism. Their visits reminded us that the global Church is alive with faith — and challenged us to be bolder in prayer and sharing Jesus with others. Claire

Healing Sunday

What a special Sunday we had as we set aside time to seek God for healing. Many people came forward—some carrying physical pain, others struggling with their mental health, and some bringing hurts around family and relationships. It was a moving picture of a church family willing to be honest about its needs and to trust God together.

We've been so encouraged to hear testimonies from those who came forward and have experienced God's touch in different ways. We give Him thanks for every one of these stories. We know too that healing isn't always instant, and we continue to pray and stand in faith for those still waiting. Please keep praying with us—for breakthrough, for comfort, and for more testimonies of God's goodness in the days ahead.
