Soul Survivor 2011 - Report

In August a group of 25 youth and leaders had a brilliant time at Soul Survivor once again. The group had great fun hanging out together and really got into the main sessions in the big top with the other 12,000 young and nearly young people there. During the week two of the group gave their lives to God for the first time which was so exciting and others really moved on in their faith and discovered a new passion for him. There were some great talks during the week that really challenged us including some by Sanga Samways, a guest speaker from Hillsong in Australia, and Danielle Strickland from Salvation Army.

The weather was interesting as it usually is so our annual opportunity to wear some very cool wellies arrived by Day 3! The group enjoyed spending time together in the marquee, playing guitar, card games and the now legendary game where you have to say ‘Soul Survivor’ in a weird voice and make a blindfolded person guess who said it...amazing what teenagers enjoy doing when there is no TV or Playstation!

After the main evening sessions the teens enjoyed checking out the late night venues including the new music venue Blueprint and incredibly were often in bed by curfew time of midnight...holiday club the previous week had definitely succeeded in wearing them out. It was a really good week and we left buzzing with the passion of a crazy last night in the big top, celebrating our relationship with God. The challenge is now to live out that faith and passion day to day at school, college and work and continue that walk of faith.

Momentum 2011

A few days later a group of students and twenty-somethings went to Momentum – the week of Soul Survivor for those who are a little bit more grown up. We had a great time and the sun shone on us for a change! Lying in a field in Somerset is even more fun when the sun is beating down although spending all day doing it can lead to issues with sunburn as a couple of the group discovered!

The group found the main sessions really challenging and enjoyed the great times of worshipping with the 4,000 others there. Momentum has a more laid back, chilled out feel than Soul Survivor thanks to its studenty clientele but by the end of the week the atmosphere in the main sessions was just as passionate as people praised, prayed and were filled with the Spirit. After a great week the group headed home to live out their faith at university and in the workplace.
