Men's Breakfast - Is God Past his sell by-Date?

Nearly fifty men decided to get up early and have a superb cooked breakfast at the Parish Centre on Saturday 22 March and hear Dr John Blanchard speak on "Is God past his sell-by date?" the title of his latest book.  This was John's return to the parish after conducting a mission in the early 1970's.

  John challenged the conventional atheistic thinking that it is possible to prove that there is no God, and that we are a product of evolution, a mere accident, a life with no purpose, eventually returning to the ground as fertiliser.  On the contrary, John gave four reasons for the existence of God - our consciousness, our empathy, our morality (we all have a desire for a moral code although our standards may differ) and the dignity of Man. 

He concluded his talk by reminding us that the Bible teaches that we are made in the image of God (Genesis 1 verse 27), who sent his son Jesus to live a perfect life and to die on the cross in our place for our sins, and through his resurrection we are able to know God personally. There was a time for questions.
