Why
did we need this appeal?
It is essential we undertake work to the church floor
and with this in mind it gives us an opportunity to decide how best
to use the church space in the future. You can see from some of
the pictures opposite why work is so necessary. We need to make
our church fit for future generations of worshipper too.

The appeal so far.
We were looking to raise £300,000 for repairs
and re-ordering of the church and God and the congregation of St
Peter's have more than answered our prayers. As at the 31st December
2010 the amount of money given, or pledged stood at over £330,000
- enough to execute the PCC's plans for the church with a small
buffer in case of unforeseen costs.
A big thank you from the PCC for all your generosity
and for sharing the vision of our church for the future.
Praise be to God.
What will the money
be used for?
- To level the church floor to try and remove trip
hazards and to improve accessibility for all, especially the disabled
among the congregation.
- To replace the existing floor and eradicate the threat
of deathwatch beetle.
- To create a more versatile worship area.
- To create a new welcome area.
- To improve heating and sound
- To refit the new vestry
- To create a new south-facing door
- To improve storage
- To review seating arrangements and replace the old
uncomfortable pews with modern comfortable chairs (see opposite
how St Andrew's and St John's have successfully transformed their
churches).
- To create a church fit for future generations of
worshipper.
When will work be
completed?
With the work now in progress and nearly half way through,
it is hoped that completion will be by Spring 2012
What are the PCC's
other plans?
After the church repairs we need to look at improving
the Parish Centre.
Use of space within the Parish Centre is at a premium,
so we intend to look at expansion of the centre to give more space
for activities, meetings and offices. This will involve adding another
floor and expanding the ground floor outwards as well.
Plans for both these major building ventures are under
constant discussion in order to allow the PCC to recommend plans
for the future of the church and worship within the church.
Please talk to the
Campus Development Committee if you have any questions.
